2/25/09 American Idol Review by ME!! these are strictly just my opinions!

OK.. so I am starting this a week late but I've decided to blog my thoughts each week about American Idol because I am a HUGE fan of the show! Another reason is my husband nor my child will watch this with me so I usually chat online with my best buddies as I watch so I thought I would put my opinions in words. Mainly for my entertainment but if you read and enjoy that is SUPER DUPER!!!

American Idol Week 2 review 2/25/2009

12 contestants tonight... only 3 will go to final 12.... Who oh who will it be?

Song choice is the key so the judges say and I must agree, if they pick a dud song I usually don't remember who they are. I've always been one to be hard on the younger contestants, that's right last year I was so NOT a David Archuleta fan. I prefer a more mature final 12.. I mean if I'm going to go to the AI concert and shout and scream and be all fan girly for someone.. they at least have to be in their 20's or I feel just plain weird. LOL

OK.. I'll do my review in my words in order of appearance from last nights show. I must say it was a bit disappointing. I hope they step it up more in the next few weeks.

Here we go.....

Jasmine Murray age 17, oh see the young age thing is working against her for me.
She has chosen to sing Love Song by Sarah Moralis, meh.. don't care for this song. She starts out bad and it only gets worse. Oh did not like her AT ALL! Lets see what the judges have to say:
Randy said she was pitchy all the way through and it felt weird for him.
Kara said it was all over the place.
Paula said she agreed with what they said, stated she was off pitch.
Simon was disappointed because he liked her said her voice was not great
WOOT WOOT I got it right this time.. sorry Jasmine!
Simon also said she was a couple of years too early. SEE I knew I was right about the young ones!

Matt Giraud age 23, He's cute.. can he sing??
He's singing a Cold Play song. I kind of like him but he totally blew it at the end of the song.
And the judges say:
Kara: not blown away, not a good song choice.
Paula: Risky song (psst. I think Paula is drunk). basically said it was OK.
Simon: verging on a horrible performance.. AWWW Simon be nice he's a cutie
Randy: Randy agrees w/ Simon but pulling for him.. said he has mad talent.. but song was not the best choice.
I bet if he doesn't get through tonight... he will be a wild card... I just betcha!!!


Jeanine Vailes age 28, I can't say I remember her at all from Hollywood or the auditions..
She chose to sing This Love by Maroon 5, WHY!!
I DO NOT LIKE HER AT ALL nope not at all... man it was bad!!!!!
Paula: Said she had great legs (you know it was bad if that is all Paula can say!)
Simon: Terrible agreed she had great legs
Randy: legs are hot.... the song was wrong.. best part was the end when it was over
Kara: so overdone.
BUH BYE Jeanine!!!!


Nick (or is it Norman) Mitchell age 27
Surely he won't be funny guy tonight?... YEP he is funny guy and it is getting old... buh bye Norman!!! WASTE OF TIME!!! He's doing a comedy act and last time I checked this was not Last Comic Standing! I don't even want to waste space on him.
Simon said he prays he does not go through to next round, atrocious performance but he is laughing
Norman said takes one to know one Sassy pants.. Now that is funny! He called Simon Sassy Pants!!!
Randy said most entertaining said, it was funny
Kara: at least we remember you, wears the same shirt like Simon every week
Paula: you are a true performer.. but not the stage for him.

Allison Iraheta age 16
Her interview with Ryan is WEIRD and very boring! Lets see if she can sing....
She is singing Alone by Heart, this is a hard one to sing.
She starts off pretty good. I have to admit... I like her... the best so far tonight (even though she is young!).
Randy said it was the hottest tonight.
Kara said it was serious.. said she is great, serious chops!
Paula said she could sing the telephone book by far the best they heard tonight.
Simon said shes the best tonight by a clear mile, competition just started now.

Kris Allen age 23
He is singing Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson. I hate this song. I hate the song so much I can't tell if he is doing a good job or not. Sorry but that is my opinion.
Kara said back half was better then the front.. not close to Hollywood week, just wrong song.
Paula disagreed completely with Kara, nailed it and charming
Simon agreed w/ Paula, not saying he's the best, showed confidence and personality
Randy said Simon partly right. Nice jump off???? what does that mean?????


Megan Joy Corkrey age 22
She is singing Put Your Records On. Bleh.. not good but not really bad.. bleh!
Paula said she picked the right song, beautiful to look at, interesting, relevant, and did everything right
Simon said she stands out, hopes America votes, wishes vocals were a bit better.
Randy liked her
Kara liked her too. Sorry I zoned out during that one.

Matt Breitzke age 27
I liked him in auditions.. now lets see if he can bring it tonight.
He is singing If You Can Only See. HMMM, I am liking him..yeah I like him ALOT ALOT ALOT!
Simon said he really likes him, hated the song, boring, didn't suit him (I so totally do not agree)
Randy said performance boring, didn't show the great Matt, it was OK.. cool Matt
Kara said didn't show any side of him, fell flat.
Paula said real good voice, song did not celebrate who they fell in love with.
Well I like him and I voted for him.

Jesse Langseth age 26
She's a single mom, they keep reminding us of that for some reason.
She is singing Betty Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes. I love this song so don't ruin it girly!!!
Meh.....No real comment here.. I could take her or leave her.
Randy said it was a OK performance, OK but not exciting.
Kara said best look, slinky and sexy
Paula said she's cool, unique will always remember her.
Simon said he disagrees with Paula, thinks its forgettable.. I agree with Simon... she's just bleh.

Kai Kalama (don't remember his age but he's in his 20's)
He is singing What Becomes of a Broken Heart.
He has totally crazy hair. He sings pretty good.. but....sorry.. had to go potty during this one... oops! I don't know if he did good with the judges or not! Good thing I don't do this for a living. LOL.

Mishavonna Henson age 18
She is singing Drops of Jupiter by Train.
She's pretty good, decent, nothing to write home about.
Paula said would not have chose that song, did not excite her.
Simon said very serious, technically good singer but performance left him cold, acts too old.
Randy said song is cool, felt so much older, sing something young.
Kara said didn't mind the song, very put together, needs to loosen up a bit.

Adam Lambert age 26
He is singing Satisfaction by Rolling Stones.
He's OK... kind of show tuneish.. lots of character though.
Paula said no words to express how much she liked it... league of his own.
Simon said finding it difficult, parts were bad parts were brilliant.
Randy said LOVED it.
Kara said his range is AWESOME.
Well if he doesn't get the vote he will get the wild card for sure!

Well that was it.. we will see tonight which 3 goes to the final 12. I'm not even going to make predictions but I hope the one I voted for makes it! Who do you think will make it??????

Allison I expected. Kris I did not just because I hated that song and Adam I figured would get through. He just reminds me of a dark haired Constantine from Season 4. I'm upset that my choice didn't make it but I'm still holding out that he gets a wild card. See ya next week!!
